Women can often suffer distressing hair loss or thinning hair. Visible scalp, thinning at the crown, and receding temples are common. Hair may fall out, an upsetting sight when you comb your hair or take a shower. There may be hair loss at the front of the head, receding hairline or bald patches or spots. All of these types of hair problems can make you feel less confident as a woman.

Causes of Hair Loss in Women

Although baldness is often seen as a male problem, women commonly suffer from hair loss and thinning. This can commonly happen after cancer treatment and chemo. When hair grows back it may not be as thick as it once was. Medication, stress and hormonal imbalance can also take its toll. 

Other causes of Female Hair Loss or Female pattern baldness can include androgenetic alopecia, Thyroid imbalance, Lupus, Menopause and Iron deficiency or anaemia.

What is Scalp Micropigmentation as a hair loss treatment for women?

Scalp Micropigmentation {SMP or hair tattoo} is the process of implanting tiny dots of pigment into the scalp to give the appearance of hair follicles. It makes the appearance of the scalp less obvious through the hair and makes the hair appear to be thicker and more dense.

It is generally done over two to three sessions to achieve a realistic effect.

As a hair loss sufferer myself I understand the impact hair loss can have on women. I’m pleased to be able to offer this service in my studio in order to help women regain confidence after their medical treatment. The environment is warm and friendly and non intimidating. I am not in a city centre location, unlike many SMP providers so you are free from the hassle of parking and city centre navigation.
